We often get asked by our customers about wiring a camper trailer plug. • Specifically they would like to know, what do the colours of the wires mean, and where do they go on the plug. • Today I'm going to show you, which wires go where. While there are a number of different plug shapes and sizes available, all plugs are numbered at the point that you attach the wire. Today we're going to look at the very popular 7 Pin Flat Plug. • So let's have a look at where the wires go and what they operate: • Number 1 is the left-hand turn, and it's the yellow wire. • Number 2 is the reversing signal, and it's the black wire. But note most trailers, camper trailers, and caravans don't use a reverse light. • So this terminal is often used for an auxiliary power feed from the car to the trailer. • Number 3 is the earth return, and it's the white wire. • Number Four is the right-hand turn, and it's the green wire. • Number 5 is the service breaks, and it's the blue wire. • Number 6 is stop lamps, and it's the red wire. • Number 7 is rear lamps, clearance, and side markers, and it's the brown wire. • As a point of interest, a 7 Pin Flat, and a 7 Pin Round are the same coloured wires, going to the same number terminal. • So if you follow the colours and the numbers, you'll always wire the plug correctly, and remember join us next week on our social media platform for another Tech Tip.
