Or Dry, itchy and/or sensitive skin? I just wanted to take a few minutes to teach you about you can do to make your skin better. The technical name for dry skin is xerosis or xeroderma, so you may hear me say that or read about it elsewhere. Dry skin can be itchy and very bothersome so it's helpful to know how you can better cope with it. Dry skin can potentially also make other skin conditions worse. • 1. Take a lukewarm shower • 2. Use gentle, skin sensitive soaps • 3. Don't completely dry off after showering, and then apply moisturizer • 4. Use free and clear detergents • 5. Avoid harsh soaps and hot tubs • 6. Only use soap on face, armpits, groin, hands and feet • 7. If you swim, rinse the chlorine off and follow the above instructions • 8. Try cool cloth • 9. Use petrol jelly • 10. Use humidifier • Knowing how to take care of your skin is very important. You can treat and prevent a lot of skin diseases and have clear skin. This includes but is not limited to skin cancer, actinic keratosis (squamous cell carcinoma or SCC), basal cell carcinoma or BCC, acne, eczema, malignant melanoma, keratin pearls, pimples, rosacea, psoriasis. Things that help include applying sunscreen, avoiding tanning, moisturizers, benzoyl peroxide, retinols and vitamin A, Accutane, antibiotics, and more.
