Resistance of a Wire Experiment GCSE Physics Required Practical

This video allows students to carry out an experiment on the resistance of a length of wire from home. This is a required practical for students to be able to understand and carry out for GCSE Physics. • A wire attached to a ruler is connected in series with a battery and an ammeter, with a voltmeter connected in parallel across the wire. The length of wire is changed and the readings for potential difference can be taken by pausing the video. • We can use the values of potential difference and current to calculate the resistance for each length of wire, then plot the resistance against the length to determine the relationship between the two. • The full results as well as a blank table for students to fill in using the video can be found here: • https://www.gcsephysicsonline.com/pra... • Thanks for watching, • Lewis • Relevant for GCSE Physics 9-1 in the following exam boards: • AQA (including Trilogy) • CCEA (Physics only) • 00:00 - Introduction • 00:10 - Setup • 01:44 - The Experiment • 02:35 - Summary • _____________________________________ • MY PHYSICS WEBSITES • Find even more videos organised by exam board and topic at: • GCSE Physics Online • ► https://www.gcsephysicsonline.com • A Level Physics Online • ► https://www.alevelphysicsonline.com • MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL • Your support in watching this video has been invaluable!
