If Cadillac is GM’s first class, and Chevrolet is coach class, then Buick fits nicely into business class. Quiet and comfortable about town, the 2019 Buick Envision fills this role as it competes against cars from Acura, Lexus, and other premium automakers. • • Shop for the new 2019 Buick Envision on CarGurus: https://cargur.us/vtqbG • • But most of the Envision’s competition come standard with more satisfying engines. The base mill in the Envision is a 197-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Upgrade to the 252-hp (and 295-pound-foot) turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder for a more satisfying drive. The Envision can be optioned with all-wheel drive, although front-wheel drive is the only available setup on the base trim. • • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and GM’s Intellilink infotainment system works very well. Cargo space measures at 27 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 57 cubic feet with them folded. Buick offers a range of advanced safety systems, but shoppers will need to pay extra for these. • • Pricing starts at a very appealing $31,995 (plus a $1,195 destination fee), but you’ll need to spend upwards of $40,000 for a truly competitive Envision.
