CableCARD devices such as the Ceton InfiniTV are required to broadcast important messages from the EAS that get transmitted from the cable provider. These alerts are commonly weather alerts and they are shown as a banner at the top of the screen. When an alert is sent out, the TV changes the channel to an EAS Alert Channel and begins running the banner, regardless of whether you're watching live TV or recording a show (In cases where you were recording, your TV recording gets cut off). These alerts run when live TV is playing. Sometimes, the cable providers can make mistakes, causing unnecessary messages to be displayed on TV, like what's in this video. Ceton is releasing a firmware update that will allow users to disable EAS passthrough to Windows Media Center. The only downside to this is that NO alerts will be displayed. This can be a problem, especially for those in tornado or flood prone areas who are watching TV and don't check the weather very often. Windows Media Center should include an option to simply close out an alert! So aggravating!!! • ----------------------------------------------------------------------- • When commenting, please remember that comments containing nasty language or harassment directed at someone are not allowed here.
