This is a common repair job that never seems to get any easier. The worst part of this job is removing the heat shields from the exhaust manifolds. Audi does offer a special tool kit that makes this repair possible without removing the manifolds. That tool part number is VAS6825. We will certainly be purchasing one for our shop. This is a costly repair due to the labor time involved. This repair is necessary to clean/de-carbon the air passage ports within the cylinder heads. These air passages are a part of the Emissions related Secondary Air system.
