Together, we turned struggles into breakthroughs! 🌟 • Parents asked tough, heartfelt questions, and together we explored real, actionable solutions to create harmony and cooperation at home and beyond. Here’s a recap of some key questions and insights shared during the session: • Holly: How do I get my 9-year-old, Drake, to stop disrespecting me? • Key Insights: • • Children mimic behaviors they see. Reflect on how you interact with your child—are there moments when you give abrupt orders or barge in? • • Role-play the respectful behavior you’d like them to emulate. Show Drake how to stand at attention and ask politely. Then, reward the positive behavior with a smile and attention while remaining neutral or calm when the undesired behavior occurs. • Kia: My 4-year-old hates school and has been suspended twice, once for hitting a teacher. What can I do? • Key Insights: • • Understand that behaviors are often a call for attention or missing skills. Ask yourself, What life skills is my child ready to learn? • • Role-play at home how to handle frustration or anger positively. Praise progress, even small steps, to help your child build confidence. • • Reframe challenges as opportunities: My child is ready to learn something new about managing emotions or boundaries. • Sharon: I have three kids (4, 5, 6) and struggle when they all need something at the same time. How do I manage? • Key Insights: • • Parenting is like music: just as songs rely on 12 notes, parenting relies on mastering essential principles. When some are missing, chaos can arise. • • Instead of reacting to demands, teach your children to manage their actions and belongings. Show them how the world works and help them believe in their ability to navigate it. • Melissa: My twin 5-year-olds fight constantly, use rude words, and hit each other. What should I do? • Key Insights: • • Let your children know that their inner thoughts, feelings, and desires matter to you. Validate! This helps them feel understood and valued. • • View complaints as opportunities.
