Watch this video to learn a safe, easy method for how to remove fireplace insert by yourself without floor damage. • Step By Step Guide of How to Move Fireplace Insert • Step 1: Open your fireplace grate and slowly move the fire place insert out of the fireplace and onto the hearth. • Step 2: You'll want to find a way to slide or push the fire place insert across your floor and out the door without causing floor damage or injuring yourself. In this video, our host used rolled up carpet; use anything that can hold the heavy fireplace insert that you don't value (ex. card board box) and that can catch it without too big of a drop from the hearth. • Step 3: Once you've pushed the fireplace insert onto the slider, carefully push or pull it in the direction of the nearest door or threshold it will fit through. Be very careful to move it properly without injuring yourself; no jerky motions or lifting with your back; this is just like moving heavy furniture by yourself. • Step 4: Just like in the video, once you get to the door sliding heavy inserts might no longer work.
