Set in the '90s, LAURENCE ANYWAYS narrates the story of Laurence, a handsome high school teacher and writer, who is madly in love with his girlfriend, Fred. Their joyful life is turned upside down when Laurence announces his transexuality and his choice to live as a woman. Fred vows to support Laurence during his transition, but the couple's new lifestyle clashes with friends, family and society in general. Above everything, LAURENCE ANYWAYS is an epic love story that examines a couple's inability to exist without each other. Complete with wild hair and lush costumes, Dolan's filmmaking style is comparable to cinema masters like Pedro Almodóvar. Only 23 years old, Dolan premiered his third film at the Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard section, further establishing him as Quebec's filmmaking prodigy.
