Back braces for posture will improve posture, but to the detriment of your core strength. If you're considering a posture correction belt, wearing a back brace for posture correction or a lower back brace while sleeping, think again. Instead of trying to find a good back brace for work or a lower back brace for sciatica, find a core stabilisation program and start improving your core and back strength. • Fix your back from home: • 🤩Join Our FREE Membership Area Today! 🤩 • https://backinshapeprogram.com/ • • Should you be wearing a lower back brace. Now in this video, I'm going to talk about why you should perhaps be using one. But more importantly, why you most likely should not be using one. Now, what do the braces do? The brace is fundamentally here, restricting my mobility it's supporting my core, it's holding my spine nice and tight, all the things that your core muscles should be doing. And that is the fundamental problem with using these sorts of braces, because you start using them once and it feels really good. I mean, I'm sat here, right now it's holding everything nice and tight, I'm sat up straight, my own abs are doing absolutely nothing. And that is the problem. • Your spine is a big stick. Okay. And if you've got a big shoulder girdle, you've got a lot of weight on a very small structure here. I know it's big compared to the neck, but it is small. And the problem with that is if you're using these supports, they feel nice while you're using them. But your core muscles should be helping support and protect this spine here. And when you use these supports, you start to become reliant on them, you use them all the time you use them right and have to use them when you go out. And your abs, your core muscles that protect that back slowly start to become less and less active, they start to do less, they start to waste, they become less responsive. And eventually, you have this awkward position for a patient. And we see it time and time again, where they have back pain, you heal the back pain, but their core and their back is so vulnerable that as soon as they start doing anything again they re-injure themselves. • Core stability is one of the fundamental parts of getting a patient better again. And although we use things like the decompression, the laser therapy, the vibration and the spinal adjusting here in the clinic to really treat lower back pain effectively, using these braces creates a massive problem because the person's core is not strong enough to protect them when they're outside the clinic. So please, when you're using these core straps, use them very infrequently. If you know that you've got a long day and you've got back pain, then you might need to use it just to make sure you protect yourself, but they should not be a daily occurrence. They're a very very infrequent use when you're doing activities that are above and beyond the normal level of activity you would expect. For example, if you're going traveling one day and you know going to see the family or relatives, then you might want to use the support just to make sure you get there and it doesn't ruin your day. • However going to and from work etc. around the house out walking the dog. If those are normal day to day activities, you want to be very, very limiting in terms of the amount of time you use these braces, and also make sure you're using them properly. And if it's done properly, it'll provide you with a degree of stability. People that get reliant on these end up really, really struggling getting out of any back pain because they just don't have the core stability there. So, get involved with a comprehensive core stabilization program, we've got one on our website the Back in Shape program, feel free to have a look at it. • https://themayfairclinic.com/back-pai... • #backbrace #backsupport #backsupportbelt
