Dear Abby is an English Country Dance devised by Gary Roodman published in A Finite Set of Calculated Figures , 2003, https://calculatedfigures.com/. It is a proper duple minor longways dance. • The tune, also called Dear Abby was composed by Gary Roodman and performed by Anna Patton, Karen Axelrod and Mary Lea on the album Band of Friends . It is used here with permission from Gary Roodman. • The animation plays at 109 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily (no music plays in this slow set). Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color may change each time through the minor set.
