The highly magnified image is now visible to both Dr. Fink and the patient on the computer screen. Vinegar is placed on the cervix causing no major discomfort. Vinegar causes any abnormal cells to appear white. In a standard Colposcopy, the physician looks through binoculars trying to determine what looks white and what doesn't then making a determination on whether or not to proceed with a biopsy. With our DYSIS system, the computer takes a picture of the cervix every 1 second and is able to tell by looking back at the series of images which areas have the maximal uptake of that vinegar. The areas with the most color suggest where the highest abnormality may exist. We then know exactly where we should biopsy, giving you the most accurate diagnosis with the least amount of invasion.
