This is Tony the Tamandua, a creature known for slurping up delicious ants and having a taste for termites. You may recognise it as a type of ‘anteater’! 😊 • • Tony arrived in our care after being transferred by MINAE from a veterinary clinic in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. He suffered head injuries after the tree, in which he was nesting, was cut down and he fell to the ground. The knock to the head also resulted in neurological symptoms, requiring expert treatment by our team. • • Thankfully, after ten days of recovery and close observation, we were able to release him back into the wild! • • Happy #FreedomFriday to all of our amazing supporters, who make releases like this possible!
