The 5 Rupees coin was issued to mark the Birth Centenary of Saint Alphonsa in 2009, along with a ₹100 coin. This ₹5 UNC coin set was issued in a Special Plastic Card pack by the Mumbai Mint. It is not a private packing but was issued by the Mumbai Mint for booking from March 8, 2010, to April 30, 2010, at an issue price of ₹150. • Saint Alphonsa was a nun in the Franciscan Clarist Congregation and an educator by profession. She is the first woman of Indian origin to be canonized as a saint, after decades of inquiry by the Sacred Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
