Grands jetés en tournent (or any other name you may know it under), is all about illusion. It looks like turning but in reality, it's more like this: • after the very important small 'hop' to développé croisé derrière in plié, • • you step 1) backwards, • • then 2) an over crossed 5th behind (I allow my students to also step over crossed in front) • • before you do grand jete (grand battement front + attitude back) from point 6 to point 8 (or even from point 4 to point 8!). • Of course, there are many other ways of teaching it.
