Contredanses 9:58 • Hi, folks! • This is a segment of the French Baroque opera Les Indes Galantes written by Jean Philippe Rameau in 1735. I created a guitar solo arrangement for pieces 1 and 9 to 13. I made sure that it stays very close to Rameau's original composition. • There is an instrumental version of this opera. It is just the orchestra music but without the vocals. It is the recording with La Chapelle Royale Philippe Herreweghe 1984 harmonia mundi. This served as a basis for my interpretation. • Chronologic classification of the opera in the baroque era: • A contemporary of Rameau was Johann Sebastian Bach. They were both experts in the new harmonies and rhythms of their time. But their music differed from each other. Bach is famous for his wonderful mathematically complex works. One should admit that, in Rameau's works, melodies are skillfully interwoven too, but not to the same extent as in Bach's works. • Especially in the operas of Rameau, the focus is more on feeling and emotion. The main topic of Les Indes Galantes is love. Rameau's opera music is theatrical and variable, supporting the course of action. It is better comparable to the works of Jean-Baptiste Lully. He was born 50 years earlier than Rameau. But the operas of Lully are more tragic and dark. • Rameau's and Lully's opera music is dramatic and variable, almost like a modern soundtrack. • About my interpretation: • I slowed down the pace a little in some parts I used to play too fast so now I could put more feeling into the pieces. • My musical performance was played by memory and in one take. • What do you think about it? • Enjoy it! • • Les Indes Galantes (Rameau) Barockoper auf der Konzertgitarre • Hallo Leute! • Dies ist ein Ausschnitt aus der Ballettoper Les Indes Galantes von dem französischen Barockkomponisten J. Ph. Rameau aus dem Jahre 1735. Für die Stücke 1 und 9 bis 13 habe ich ein Arrangement für die Sologitarre gefertigt. Ich habe darauf geachtet, dass es der Originalkomposition von Rameau sehr nahe kommt. • Es gibt eine Instrumentalversion der Oper, also mit Orchester, aber ohne Gesang. Es ist die Aufnahme mit La Chapelle Royale Philippe Herreweghe von 1984 harmonia mundi. Diese habe ich als Vorlage für meine Interpretation verwendet. • Zeitliche Einordnung der Oper in die Barockära: • Ein Zeitgenosse Rameaus war Johann Sebastian Bach. Sie waren beide Kenner der neuen Harmonien und Rhythmen ihrer damaligen Zeit. Ihre Musik ist jedoch gut unterscheidbar. Bach ist für seine wundervollen mathematisch komplexen Werke berühmt. Zwar hat auch Rameau Melodien miteinander geschickt zur Polyphonie verwoben, allerdings nicht in dem Maße, wie Bach es tat. • Vor Allem in Rameaus Opern steht das Gefühl, die Emotion, mehr im Vordergrund. In Les Indes Galantes ist Liebe das Hauptthema. Rameaus Opernmusik ist theatralisch und wechselhaft. Sie unterstützt die sich ändernde Handlung. Zu vergleichen ist sie eher mit der, des 50 Jahre zuvor geborenen, Jean-Baptiste Lully. Wobei Lullys Opern oft tragischer und düsterer sind. • Rameaus und Lullys Opernmusik ist dramatisch und wechselhaft, fast so, wie moderne Filmmusik. • Zu meiner Instrumentalinterpretation: • An einigen Stellen habe ich ein wenig Tempo rausgenommen, an denen ich zu schnell gespielt hatte. Dafür konnte ich nun mit mehr Ausdruck und gefühlvoller spielen. • Meine musikalische Darbietung wurde auswendig und an einem Stück vorgetragen. • Was haltet ihr davon? • Habt Spaß damit!
