Lázně Libverda is a spa town in the northern part of the Czech Republic, in the Liberec county of the Liberec region. It lies on the northern side of the Jizera Mountains, about 1 km north of Hejnice, thirteen kilometers east of Frýdlant on the border between the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. The history of the sanatorium Léčivé prameny has been known since the fourteenth century, when mineral water was called God's water. According to historical sources, Libverdz water was treated in the 16th century by the Saxon elector August I, later the owner of the local estate Albrecht of Valdstein. The Clam-Gallas noble family has contributed to the spa's development and fame. Classicist and Empire pavilions were built in 1783-1808. Princess Anna Feodorovna, composer Carl Maria von Weber, Josef Jungmann, Franz Kafka, Alexandr Humboldt, Josef Vítězslav Šimák, Emperor Josef II, Jan Masaryk, Václav Talich and others were treated in the sanatorium. • About 700 m from the center of the spa is the restaurant Obří sud, which means Great Barrel. The name refers to the shape of the building, which has the form of a lying barrel. The facility was built in 1931 and became a tourist attraction. • The picturesque valley in which the spa is located is enclosed by the Smrk massif - the highest mountain in the Czech part of the Jizera Mountains (1124 m a.s.l.). • Near the spa is the village of Peklo or Hell, in which many examples of traditional wooden Sudeten architecture have survived. • Red trail from the spa, 3 km east, we reach the former hunters' shelter, and now the Hubertka restaurant. Behind the restaurant you can reach the rock formation - Kočičí kameny, on whose top there is a lookout point, to the upper part of the Směda Valley, surrounded by the slopes of the Jizera Mountains. • HYPERLINK WITH TRIP ROUTE MAP: https://mapy.cz/s/fujovohaca • 2019.06.16
