More than half of South Africa's population lives in poverty and millions depend on social grants for their livelihood. • In an effort to find out how political parties contesting in this year's elections will tackle the question of basic income grant post elections, the Universal Basic Income Grant Coalition launched a scorecard this week. • It found that out of the 19 parties analysed, 10 have committed to expanding their social protection floor, and five have committed to a basic income grant or a universal basic income. • To talk more about the findings of the Universal basic income policy scorecard, we are joined in the studio by Siyanda Baduza, Basic Income Researcher: Institute for Economic Justice. • Good morning. • For more news, visit sabcnews.com and #SABCNews on all Social Media platforms.
