Want to DIY? This 30 Step Guide will give you all the tips and tricks to help you upgrade the standard factory FM Antenna and replace it with the NEW Genuine VW Factory Wing Mirror DAB FM Antenna! • Timecode breakdown: • 00:00 - Start of video • Step 1 – 00:43 – Remove wing mirror glass. • Step 2 – 01:06 – Disconnect heated elements from glass. • Step 3 – 01:31 – Release the internal wing mirror clips. • Step 4 – 01:56 – Release the mirror caps outer edging internal clips. • Step 5 – 02:41 – Release the final mirror cap clips. • Step 6 – 03:42 – Remove blind spot assist (if required/installed). • Step 7 – 03:57 – Unclip the old Antenna from the fixings and unscrew the amplified booster. • Step 8 – 05:24 – From the bottom to the top remove door card screws bolts. • Step 9 – 06:35 – Unclip the door card from the door. • Step 10 – 07:57 – Lift the door card upwards to remove it from the door. • Step 11 – 08:43 – Unclip the central locking LED plug, and door release mechanism and release the electric window buttons to access the plugs. • Step 12 – 09:55 – Remove electric window plugs and wing mirror plug. • Step 13 – 10:28 – Peel back the sticky foam and undo the 10mm bolt, unplug the 2nd plug and remove the foam insert. • Step 14 – 11:53 – Remove 3 bolts that secure the actual wing mirror and guide cables out of the door. • Step 15 – 12:48 – Remove the rubber seal and unscrew the ground screw of the mirror. • Step 16 – 13:21 – Cut the cloth tap and remove the antenna from the mirror. • Step 17 – 14:00 – Compare the old antenna with a new one. • Step 18 – 14:22 – (GPS can also be installed at this point if required) – Slide the cable of DAB back through the mirror channel. • Step 19 – 15:09 – Screw the ground screw back in, replace the cloth tape on the wires and refit the rubber seal. • Step 20 – 16:16 – Re-fit the antenna booster, the T10 Torx screw and clip in the new antenna itself. • Step 21 – 18:19 – Clean the mirror area, feed the cables through the hole in the door and then reattach the mirror. • Step 22 – 19:59 – Screw the 3 T30 Torx bolts back in place to secure the mirror. • Step 23 – 20:32 – Screw in the 10mm bolt and reconnect all plugs. Attach an extension to DAB and plan your wiring route. • Step 24 – 21:27 – Remove the door grommet (gator) and run cables through the door hole, into the door grommet and through into the vehicle. Remove the driver's knee panel for more access. Place foam inserts back into the door along with sticky foam. • Step 25 – 24:42 – Route the cable through the vehicle up to the radio and tie it down with cable ties. • Step 26 – 25:33 – Plugin blind spot (if required/installed) and reattach mirror cap to clips. • Step 27 – 26:46 – Refit the mirror glass and heated element. • Step 28 – 27:39 – Put the door card back on and plug in all plugs plus the door release mechanism. • Step 29 – 28:37 – Fit the door card back in place, line it up with clips and make sure it is secure. • Step 30 – 29:36 – Re-screw all door screws and bolts, put handle cover on, reconnect electric window plugs and place back in the door. • Need a set of Trim Tools?
