This video is an introduction to pretty Galway City. We'll simply take a walk through some of the city's most vibrant areas to get a feel for the place. Galway is situated on the west coast of Ireland in the county of the same name and in the Province of Connacht. It's a city with a long history dating from its foundation in 1124. Part of the original walls of the city still remains. The city fell into decline after the Great Famine (1845 - 1852) and never really recovered. However, it saw an emergence as one of Ireland's cultural centres during the period of the Irish 'Celtic Tiger'. • A lot of work goes into these videos.
