In this video, we will be exploring the different ports, buttons and indicators found on a common household device - the D-Link Wireless N300 Router. • ** When connecting your router to the wall socket, make sure to only use the original power adapter that came with the router. If not, purchase one after comparing the power ranges of the router and the adapter. • ---------------- LAN --------------------- • LAN stands for Local Area Network; it is a network that connects laptops, PCs, mobiles, printers, and other devices, similar to the one inside your house. • -------------------- WAN ---------------- • WAN (Wide Area Network) spans a large geographical area. Therefore, you should connect the network cable coming from the network switch, placed inside or outside your home, to the WAN port. • ------------------------ Reset Button ---------------------- • You can reset your router's settings and configurations to factory settings by pressing the Reset button. • When you don't remember the customized login passwords and WiFi key, you can use a small wire head, pen, or any suitable object to reset the router. • You have to keep pressing the reset button until all the indicators glow or turn red. Once they glow, you can release the reset button and all the customized settings will be reset. • -------------- WPS Button ------------------ • ** WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is a method to securely add a new device to a Wi-Fi network without manually entering the password. • ** To use this feature, your device must have WPS support. • Steps to use WPS on a Wi-Fi Router: • 1. Press the WPS button on the router. • 2. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar of your device. • 3. Click on the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to. • 4. Look for a WPS or Push-Button Connect option and follow the instructions to connect to the Wi-Fi network. • ** The device should now be connected to the Wi-Fi network. • ** You should complete these steps within two minutes. The WPS LED will be blinking during this time. • ** The steps for using WPS may vary depending on the router, device model, and operating system of your laptop or mobile. For more information, please refer to the manufacturer's instructions. • ----------- LED Indicators ------------- • This router has five LED indicators: • 1. Power LED: The power LED glows when power is available. • 2. LAN LED: The LAN LED glows when a device connects through a LAN port. • 3. WAN LED: The WAN LED glows when the router connects to a WAN network or the Internet. • 4. Wi-Fi LED: The Wi-Fi LED glows when Wi-Fi connectivity is available, allowing for connection. • 5.
