Upon our arrival in Puno, Peru, we hopped on a boat and began exploring the highest lake in all of South America– Peru's Lake Titicaca. We got the opportunity to visit three different islands on Lake Titicaca (the human-made floating islands of the Uros people, Amantani Island, and Taquile Island), and we quickly realized that the local Peruvian communities residing on the lake were living highly sustainable lives. They were all experts on living off of the land and using natural resources to live happy and healthy lives.
