SA Today's daily update video from South Africa is from 25 February 2025. In this video, we start with the Vaal River in the flood between Bothaville and Leeudoringstad in South Africa today. Then, heavy rain at East London, Witbank and Pretoria on the N1. Flooding of roads occurred between Thabazimbi and Buisdoorens, and helicopters with food and medical supplies had to be sent to the Leeupoort Holiday town. The Midmar Dam near Howick in KZN also overflowed. In Durban the rain stopped yesterday, at 578mm for the year. More penguins at sunset at Boulders Beach in Simons Town, and we will show you several more places across South Africa today. • Here's a short weather forecast for South Africa today: • A cut-off low is set to bring widespread showers and thunderstorms across central South Africa, including parts of the Northern Cape. While isolated showers are expected in the northeastern regions, the eastern and central areas of the Northern Cape may experience severe thunderstorms, potentially resulting in infrastructure damage and localised flooding, particularly affecting roads and bridges. In addition, disruptive rainfall is anticipated in the eastern and central Northern Cape, as well as in the western sections of the Free State and North West. The western areas of the Eastern Cape and the northeastern parts of the Western Cape are also at risk of experiencing localised flooding of vulnerable bridges, roads, and settlements, along with potential property and infrastructure damage.
