Putting the Dimarzio Area '61 in the neck slot of my Stratocaster through its paces. This is a backing I recorded with bass, drums, some sparse clean guitar, and a liberal dose of Ebow harmony, going for a sort of Porcupine Tree - meets - Massive Attack feel. I may turn this into a song down the road if I can come up with a better bassline, I like the changes. • • As usual, this was my Mesa Rectifier Roadster in Channel 3 Modern. I kept the gain a hair above noon, the master about 1 o'clock, presence about 11 o'clock, bass about 3 o'clock, mids a little over 2 o'clock, and treble about 9:30, with 6L6s in the power amp and Bold/100 watts/solid state rectification. The clean guitar was my PRS Singlecut SE, and I don't recall what I used for the Ebow lines - I recorded this backing a couple weeks ago. The bass was my Sherman 5-string into a Sansamp RPM, recording both the effected and DI outs (with the DI heavily compressed but mixed way back). I started with the volume back a bit on my guitar, and gradually worked it up a bit, going wide open at 1:17.
