Titian biography (Tiziano) - Vasari's Lives of the most excellent Painters, Sculptors and Architects • ➡️ Tiziano Vecelli or Vecellio (1488-1576), known in English as Titian, was an Italian (Venetian) painter of the Renaissance, considered the most important member of the 16th-century Venetian school. He was born in Pieve di Cadore, near Belluno. During his lifetime he was often called da Cadore, 'from Cadore', taken from his native region. • Recognized by his contemporaries as The Sun Amidst Small Stars (recalling the final line of Dante's Paradiso), Titian was one of the most versatile of Italian painters, equally adept with portraits, landscape backgrounds, and mythological and religious subjects. His painting methods, particularly in the application and use of colour, exercised a profound influence not only on painters of the late Italian Renaissance, but on future generations of Western artists. • His career was successful from the start, and he became sought after by patrons, initially from Venice and its possessions, then joined by the north Italian princes, and finally the Habsburgs and papacy. Along with Giorgione, he is considered a founder of the Venetian School of Italian Renaissance painting. • During the course of his long life, Titian's artistic manner changed drastically, but he retained a lifelong interest in colour. Although his mature works may not contain the vivid, luminous tints of his early pieces, they are renowned for their loose brushwork and subtlety of tone. • ✏️ The Lives of Vasari: • The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors and Architects (Le vite de' più eccellenti pittori, scultori, e architettori) is a series of artist biographies written by 16th-century Italian painter and architect Giorgio Vasari, which is considered perhaps the most famous, and even today the most-read work of the older literature of art , some of the Italian Renaissance's most influential writing on art and the first important book on art history . The title is often abridged to just the Vite or the Lives of Vasari. Vasari published the work in two editions with substantial differences between them; the first edition, two volumes, in 1550 and the second, three volumes, in 1568 (which is the one usually translated and referred to). One important change was the increased attention paid to Venetian art in the second edition, even though Vasari still was, and has ever since been, criticised for an excessive emphasis on the art of his native city of Florence. • Here you can listen The Lives of Vasari in audiobook format (English language) and see the most famous paintings and works of these artists! • ✅ See more of Vasari's Lives of the Artists:    • Vasari Lives of the Artists   • Link to this video:    • Titian biography (Tiziano) - Vasari L...   • 0:00 Vasari Lives of the Most Eminent Painters, Sculptors and Architects by Giorgio Vasari • 0:13 Live of Titian • 0:25 Titian artworks and biography • 👉 Subscribe to our channel and stay on top of news!: •    / @artproject_youtube   • #vasarilives #artproject #titian
