If you don’t know your basal metabolic rate (BMR), you can easily calculate it by using a free online calculator. All you need is your height, gender, age, and weight. It is not absolutely precise, but it can give you a general idea of how many calories you can consume on a daily basis to keep your weight stable. if you eat above your BMR, you will likely gain weight, and if you eat below your BMR, you’re likely to lose weight. Of course, this is an oversimplification, but it can help you figure out if you are somewhat in the ballpark of what your caloric intake should be. • Then you need to calculate how many calories you actually consuming daily. This may be a bit tedious, but you don’t have to do this all the time. Multiply your grams protein and carbs by 4, and your grams fat by 9 to get your total daily calories you consume. • If you regularly train with weights, and your goal is to decrease body-fat while keeping muscle, I usually recommend to make your protein 35 to 40% of your daily calories. This is of course not medical advice as some people cannot eat a high protein diet. Please check with your physician prior to making any changes in your diet. By decreasing your carbohydrates and fats you can go into a slight caloric deficit, which will over time help you lose weight and keep it off. • #preventivehealth #jonaskuehnemd #bmrcalculator #nutrition #wellness #cleaneating #active #weightloss #protein #strong #doctor #bmr #healthychoices #md #getfit #healthylifestyle #determination #healthyfood #healthylifestyle #muscle #healthyliving #instafit #gymlife #fitlife • #fatloss • #healthyeating #protein #healthylife #md • #jonaskuehnemd
