If you never try anything new you don't learn anything new is the way I see it. Today I m trying out Shou Sugi Ban which is the preservation of wood by burning 2 to 3mm of the outer layer of the wood. By fighting off fungi which cause wood decay, this new method of wood preservation is something I m hoping will be work well without the need for harsh chemicals. In today's episode you'll see me trying a few different methods of charring the wood with the easiest solution ultimately prevailing. En route to getting the wood put into the ground I was able to get my Holzfforma G660 fired up and the Lewis Winch Earth Auger working just right to help me dig my holes. I tell ya one thing, using a 92cc chainsaw powerhead sure keeps ya on your toes. Lots of fun however. Glad you're all here to join me today as I make my log deck into a reality using timber harvested right on sight. What a great feeling. Here we go! • Chainsaw shown in this video: Husqvarna 555 and Holzfforma G660 • Auger shown in this video: Lewis Winch Earth Auger (Direct Drive model) with 8 auger • Tractor shown in this video: Kioti DK40se hit • Sawmill visible in this video: Woodland Mills HM130max • Thanks for everyone's support.
