Aaron Motsoaledi on medical graduates internships issue

On Monday our sister programme Leihlo La Sechaba on SABC 2 aired an investigative insert about medical doctors in South Africa who have graduated and who allegedly did not find internships at hospital. • In the insert a young doctor who recently graduated from medical school says she along with 80 other new doctors are waiting to be placed at hospitals to do their internships. • The minister of department of health Aaron Motsoaledi has lashed back by saying that the information used in the insert was untrue. • The department says the programme caused an unnecessary frenzy and that they have a legal obligation to place graduates at hospitals to do their internships. • According to the department they are still waiting to hear from the 80 medical graduates as they have never seen the list with their names.
