This is an example of either a #drone laying queen, or a laying worker hive. In either case, each egg that is laid will become a drone. Notice how spread out each capped cell is, and that each cell is rounded and protrudes above the plane of the #comb. This is because the male drones are larger than worker bees, so each cell is enlarged beyond its originally designed size. If the beekeeper does not intervene, this hive will collapse and die in a few months.
