We go over everything that you need to know about getting port forwarding up and running for your Minecraft server. From how to login to your router to how to port forward on all of the top routers currently on the market, it is all covered in this video! Thus, without any more delay, let's go ahead and learn how to port forward for Minecraft. • First and foremost, you will need to get your IPv4 address and your default gateway. Both of these are required in order to port forward for a Minecraft server. Luckily, this is a very simple and very easy process. Just open up your start menu by click the little Windows icon in the bottom left of your computer screen. Then, search for 'CMD'. The 'Command Prompt' app will show in the results. Click on this app to open it. • Once you have Command Prompt open, you will need to type 'ipconfig' and hit enter. This will then give you a bunch of information. We, however, just need two things from this list. We need your IPv4 address, also known as your local IP, and we need your 'Default Gateway'. If you have two things for your default gateway, get the one that is just numbers. Then, open up your server.properties file and put your IPv4 address next to where it says 'server-ip'. Then, save the file. • Next, open up your web browser and create a new tab. Then, where you would normally type in a website, enter your default gateway. A login box will then appear on your screen. You need to enter your router's username and password into this login box. You can find an in-depth guide on getting login information in the description above. • Once you have logged into your router, you will need to find where on your router you can port forward. This is going to be a bit different for every router. Luckily, we do have a vidoe linked in the description above that goes over how to port forward on the most popular routers today. That video is also focused more on Minecraft server port forwarding as well. • Nevertheless, after you have found where you can port forward on your router, you will need to finally port forward for a Minecraft server. To do this, you will forward the port 25565. This is going to be on the UDP and TCP protocols, and it will be on your local IPv4 address as your internal IP. If you need an external or outside IP, you can get that using the WhatsMyIP link in the description above. Now, just save your port forward. • And there you have it! You now know exactly how to port forward for a Minecraft server.
