Four-wheel drive (a first for the SL), four-wheel steering and active aero have been introduced to refine the handling dynamics, but the huge talking point is the exterior styling. With the design blueprints being based off of the legendary 300SL, the SL55 features the similar characteristic of a long bonnet and slick styling. The silhouette is less boxy than the previous generation with beautifully rounded arches and slim front and rear lights with the soft-top being reinstated rather than the heavier hardtop. • The updated interior is another talking point, with a larger 12.3” centre infotainment screen that can tilt in order to reduce glare when the roof is down. The roof control can also be found on the touch screen along with the majority of the car’s functions. Other quality Mercedes touches are the hidden door handles that when extended are illuminated and the ‘AMG’ model logo puddle lamps.
