Motorcycle crankshaft rebuilding

This video shows the general process of rebuilding a crankshaft. No attempt is made to actually finish the rebuild nor to demonstrate the exact precision required. The crankshaft in the video has one bad center so it cannot be reliably trued up between centers and was discarded after the video. Their are many different methods and many opinions of which is best so the viewer may find examples of a process they like better on youtube and is encouraged to look for them. I learned my method from a manufacturers book in the 1970's and it worked for me. That method was to put the crankshaft between centers and measure runout at one of the crankshaft bearings. Some people use v blocks and test at the ends of the shaft, some use a test stand with centers built in. I prefer the lathe centers as they are a lot more stable than a stand and I believe much more accurate than v blocks. No guarantee that the method shown here will work for you.
