Scaling a pastured poultry enterprise presents challenges with some of the coop designs labor required while other schooners are costly on a per bird basis and prone to blowing away. • The DPRC solves the problems with larger size pastured poultry range coops, that being the inefficiency of seasonal production, operational limitations and wind load. • With heavier construction we can use the DPRC for broiler chickens during the summer and then with a quick changeover in the fall we can use it for weaning pigs all fall winter when our need for roof space increases. A reduction in the time spent building weaning pens is a plus! • Let us know what you think! • • I (Jordan) and my wife, Laura, own and operate J L Green Farm in Virginia. It has been our full time occupation for the last 12 years building this first generation, pasture based, direct to retail farm. We are in the small percentage of farmers that actually make their income from farming. As such we address our farm as a business and make decisions with that in mind. What you see here is what it takes. No BS or disney’ifying. • Have a question or idea for a future video?
