Historically, bebop musicians started to add notes to regular diatonic scales. For instance, instead of using the 'plain' dominant 7th (mixolydian) scale on a C7 chord: • C E F G A Bb • The Jazz guitarists (and other musicians) started adding a passing tone like this: • C E F G A Bb B • Notice that the second scale here (bebop scale) has 8 notes instead of 7 notes. And this is a perfect fit for playing 8th-notes in four-four time! In short: the added notes permit better alignment of the notes with the 4/4 time signature. • See the Bebop Lick video here: • Jazz Guitar Licks: How to Play The Be... • See the Bebop Modes video here: • Jazz Guitar Scales: How to Play Bebop... • Check out this blog post to learn more about the bebop Jazz guitar: • http://www.jazzguitarlessons.net/jazz... • -- • OTHER PLATFORMS 🎸 • For more lessons, please visit: http://www.jazzguitarlessons.net • Click here to subscribe: / jazzguitarlessonsnet • Join our full Jazz Guitar Mastery program: https://learn.jazzguitarlessons.net/ • Take your jazz chops to the next level • ☏ Book a call with Marc: https://nextlevel.jazzguitarlessons.net/
