How to Stretch a Canvas onto Stretcher bars

Learn to Stretch a Large Canvas and prime it with Gesso . This is a method that was taught to me by a former preparator for the Smithsonian. I plan on making a separate video on how to make the stretcher seen here (It's nice isn't it :) . Here's a simple way to stretch your canvas over stretcher bars without getting wrinkles. • Here's the recipe • Iron canvas • Sweep the ground • Lay down canvas • Start in the middle of each stretcher. Do all 4 sides • Go to the right of center of each stretcher. • Repeat to the left • Tuck in corners of the canvas to get a clean seam at the bottom. • gesso. Start in the center.
