There are two parts: • Topic: You choose a topic to prepare in advance of the test, for discussion with the examiner. • You must complete a Topic Form in advance and bring it with you to the exam. • Here is an example of a completed Topic Form. • Conversation: You have a short conversation with the examiner about two subject areas chosen by the examiner. • You also need to take a ‘Life in the UK’ Test as part of your application. This is not a Trinity test. Visit the government Home Office website for more information about the Life In The UK • What do CEFR, SELT and GESE mean? • CEFR = Common European Framework of Reference for Languages • SELT = Secure English Language Test • GESE = Graded Examinations in Spoken English • Your B1 test result and certificate • Your provisional result will be emailed to you by 9am the day after your test. • You will receive an email with your final result within 4-7 days of your test date. • If you have passed, you can then use your UER number to proceed with your UKVI application. • A provisional result is an unconfirmed result until approved by Trinity and confirmed as the final result. • Candidates in the UK can usually expect to receive their Trinity SELT certificate within 7 days of the test date. • Examiners assess your performance using an A-D rating scale. They award a letter grade (A, B, C or D) for each exam task. They use performance band descriptors to decide what grade to award. • There are four possible results for any GESE exam: Pass with Distinction, Pass with Merit, Pass and Fail. Your overall result is based on the grades you got in the different tasks
