Two years ago, Alex Bazzell, celebrity basketball trainer and husband of Minnesota Lynx Star Napheesa Collier, had an idea to create a 3-on-3 league of WNBA players that could transform the offseason. Now, in January of 2025, Unrivaled tips off its inaugural season with Breanna Stewart and Napheesa at the helm. This league, comprising six teams with star power including Angel Reese, Arike Ogunbowale, Alyssa Thomas, Satou Sabally, Skylar Diggins-Smith and more is played on a smaller court, logistically crafted into an intimate viewing experience for fans in the arena and watching from home. The league also gives players equity in the business, meaning they stand to gain wealth should the league be successful, which they claim is why players are taking on the responsibility of working hard and putting on a show.
