A Meckel's diverticulum, a true congenital diverticulum, is a slight bulge in the small intestine present at birth and a vestigial remnant of the omphalomesenteric duct (also called the vitelline duct or yolk stalk). It is the most common malformation of the gastrointestinal tract and is present in approximately 2% of the population, with males more frequently experiencing symptoms. • Meckel's diverticulum was first explained by Fabricius Hildanus in the sixteenth century and later named after Johann Friedrich Meckel, who described the embryological origin of this type of diverticulum in 1809. • Source: wikipedia.org • Track: The Bluest Star by The 126ers • SUBSCRIBE for FREE: / @bethesmartest • _ • WATCH SOME MORE VIDEOS... • MNEMONIC for Systemic Features of Marfan Syndrome… • • MNEMONIC - Marfan Syndrome! • MNEMONIC for Carpal Bones of the Hand… • • MNEMONIC - Carpal Bones! • MNEMONIC for Causes of Cavitating Lesions… • • MNEMONIC - Cavitating Lesions! • MNEMONIC for Signs and Symptoms of Depression… • • MNEMONIC - Depression! • MNEMONIC for Triad of Preeclampsia… • • MNEMONIC - Preeclampsia! • MNEMONIC for Differential Diagnosis… • • MNEMONIC - Differential Diagnosis! • MNEMONIC for Functions of Oestrogen… • • MNEMONIC - Oestrogen Functions! • MNEMONIC for Signs of Acute Ischaemia… • • MNEMONIC - Signs of Acute Ischaemia! • MNEMONIC for Top 6 Risk Factors of Suicide… • • MNEMONIC - Risk Factors of Suicide! • MNEMONIC for Treatment of Pancreatitis… • • MNEMONIC - Treatment of Pancreatitis!
