Slightly larger, more comfortable, safer and more practical, it appealed to the tastes of those who loved traditional styling and good old Mercedes . The six-cylinder, 24-valve Mercedes C 280 W202 was initially the most powerful one in the range, although it soon had to give way to the AMG version. However, with a top speed of 230 km/h and a first 100 in 8.5 seconds, despite the use of a classic automatic transmission, the performance was on a par with its famous 16-valve predecessor.
