This program has been updated to reflect this change. • The goals emphasized in National Patient Safety Goals 2018 are targeted to facilities with the following healthcare environments: • • Ambulatory Care • • Office-Based Surgery • • Critical Access Hospitals • • Hospitals • This program describes the following patient safety goals: • • Improve the accuracy of patient identification • • Improve the effectiveness of communication among caregivers • • Improve the safety of using medications • • Reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections • • Improve the safety of clinical alarm systems • • The organization identifies safety risks inherent in its patient population. • The goal of this program is to define and discuss the Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goals for 2018, including the problems and concerns that have led to its implementation.
