The game is set 15 years after the events of The Last Stand: Union City. Most of the world's population has been wiped out by the zombie apocalypse. A compound called The End is the last bastion of hope in Union City. However, anyone who gets infected with or exposed to the zombie virus is to be exiled, under agreement from the community that anyone who gets infected must leave the compound. • The player takes on these exiled characters, who must make their last stand in the wilderness out on their own while trying to make things better for the community that they have left behind.
