Stephen L. Weber, the seventh president of San Diego State University, will retire, effective July 5, 2011, it was announced Tuesday, Aug. 24. President Weber notified California State University Chancellor Charles Reed of his decision the same day. • After having told faculty and staff three years ago that he intended to retire in 2011, Weber confirmed his retirement plans through a video message to the campus community.
