We are going to open the LOCKED biome chests found in the dungeon before hardmode. • Why is this major? These chests can usually only be opened after killing Plantera, which is really late into the game. • How are we going to do it? watch and find out :) • How did you figure out how to do it? Using various glitches we have discovered on our own by playing the game. • Long technical explanation: • Biome Chest Early is a glitch theorized by Ethyriel, and proven with help from Gromek and co. • Chests in Terraria a special type of furniture, in that they have a 2x2 set of physical tiles (the chest that you see), and a set of data associated with that 2x2 set of tiles. (the items inside of it, which you see when opening it). • Under normal circumstances, a chest must be empty in order to remove the physical tiles , so that the data can be cleared at the same time. However, I discovered that if you destroy the physical tiles of a chest using placement glitches, the data (items inside the chests) persists, even if you replace the entire area where the chest was with new blocks. • And, if you place a new chest on a 2x2 area where there is already chest data, the chest inherits the data there, no questions asked. You see where this is going. • With this in mind, the current method of executing the glitch uses actuators to cause an immense amount of lag, resulting in the area where the Biome Chest is to be temporarily un-loaded, allowing a player to place blocks inside of where the chest would otherwise be. This destroys the physical tiles ; but, as mentioned before, the chest data itself persists. Now, all that's left to do is to place any chest (i.e. wooden chest) on the exact location where the Biome Chest was (and where its data remains).
