Maintenance Monday with Contrive3D: • Cleaning X-axis Carbon Rods and Y-axis Linear Rods on the Bambu Lab X1C 3D printer • Cleaning these rods helps get rid of debris and buildup caused by dust and printing thermoplastic (especially volitle plastics like ABS and ASA) • What are we spraying? IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) that we put inside a plastic spray bottle • What type of towels do we use? any microfiber towel that will not leave behind lint (even if the texture of this type of towel gives me the ick) • What type of paper towels do we use? Viva Signature Cloth • Simplified Steps: • loosen the 4 belt tensioner screws on the back of the printer • power OFF the printer • apply ipa to Carbon Rods and Linear Rods • SLOWLY move the print head to distribute the IPA thoroughly • wipe off the Carbon Rods and Linear Rods • re-tighten the 4 screws (do not overtighten) • make sure the rods are dry and then power on the printer • run calibration (under utilities) • Have a question? • Want to see a specific maintenance tip? • Have something to complain about? • Put it in the comments! • Have a great day and, as always, happy printing! • • ***notes: this information is based on suggestions given by Bambu Lab when we first received the printer (https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/general/.... with updated information and experience, practices have changed to ensure we keep ipa off of the belts and only on the rods.**
