Happy Baking, Enjoy! • Warburtons Crumpet Recipe • How to make Warburtons Crumpets • TIMINGS: • • Prep Time: 15 mins. • • Proof Time: 1 hour. • • Cooking Time: 30 mins. • • Total Time: 1 hour 45 mins. • SERVINGS: • Makes: 6 Crumpets • INGREDIENTS: • • ¾ cup + 3 tbsp (150g/5oz) Plain Flour. • • ½ tsp Salt. • • ¾ cup + 1 tbsp (200ml/6.7 floz) Water. • • ½ tsp Caster Sugar. • • 1 tsp Baking Powder. • • 1 tsp Instant Dried Yeast. • METHOD: • 1. Combine flour, salt, and water in a large mixing bowl. • 2. Whisk the mixture vigorously for at least 5 minutes until you have a smooth crumpet batter. • 3. In a separate bowl, mix a small amount of water into the dried yeast. • 4. Add the sugar, baking powder, and yeast mixture to the bowl and continue mixing for an additional 30 seconds, until the batter is smooth and clear. • 5. Cover the mixing bowl and place it in a warm location for 1 hour. Make sure your mixing bowl is larger than necessary as the mixture will expand. • 6. Grease the crumpet rings (ones I use are 8cm wide by 2 cm deep) with butter (I find butter the best for not sticking) and add a little oil to the non-stick frying pan and use a brush to spread it out evenly. Place the rings in the middle of the pan. • 7. Preheat the frying pan to medium-high heat. • 8. Stir the crumpet batter to remove any large air bubbles before pouring approx. 60g of the batter into the rings inside the pan, I use an ice cream scoop to do this. • 9. Wait for about 5 minutes before carefully lifting the ring of the crumpet. I find the longer they cook on a medium heat the easier it is to remove the rings. I lift the rings when they are fully dried on top. You may need to use a sharp knife if the crumpets stick a little to the side of the rings. • 10. Flip the crumpets over and cook for a few seconds so they are a lovely golden colour on top. • 11. Allow the crumpet to cool and repeat the process to make as many crumpets as you desire. • 12. Finally, toast and enjoy the crumpets with butter or any other toppings of your choice. • 13. Mmm Scrummy!!!
