Where the hip belt meets the pack there is a finger sized opening left by the way it is stitched, creating a ~4 inch/100 cm tube. I threaded the shock cord through this and tied it to create a loop in the hip position. I created another loop using a small gap at the sliding plastic piece for the chest strap. One could also use a gap in the plastic piece at the end of the shoulder strap where the webbing for adjustment runs.
