This video shows the typical method and steps on how to install / placement of rebar reinforcement for column, from fabrication and installation of lateral ties and installation of main vertical rebar. Estimation of reinforcement bars or rebars for a reinforced concrete work is done by a professional engineer it is often called rebar cutting list a tabulated list showing information about the rebar material that is required on the Jobsite with a content of Quantity of rebar to be used, length needed, width and thickness of the rebar and any special NOTES on what needs to be done .(Their sizes, placement and construction details will be noted on structural details) • Reinforced concrete is the most commonly used structural material in engineering construction. Concrete is strong in compressive stress yet they are weak in Tension Stress thus we need to reinforced with Rebar that is capable to resist and withstand certain load of Tensile Stress. • ============================================================ • Lateral Ties - are square pieces of rebar surrounding the vertical bars. It is bent into a rectangular shape and some have bend hooks on the tip. The Load is Carried by the vertical bars while the ties are provided to keep the main rebar in their required position without getting disturbed or displaced. It also prevent the Main bars from buckling outward. The ties are evenly spaced along the full height of the column • Lapping / Splice - it is required when a rebar is not enough or a joint is required. It is literally a two Bars that are in Physical contact and wired together with a binding wires more often called tie wires (alambre).
