Funnel Retinal Detachment and Cataract with Posterior Synechiae

Repair of funnel-shaped retinal detachment and cataract with posterior synechiae: 360 retinectomy and perfluoron (PFO) • Posterior synechiolysis and iris hooks were required to achieve sufficient pupil dilation, followed by phacoemulsification to remove the cataract. It was noted that the detached retina was moving close to the posterior surface of the cataract. Therefore, the lens was flipped using the Seibel Chopper into the anterior chamber and the phaco tip was kept in the center of the anterior chamber while removing the cataract pieces. • Funnel shaped total retinal detachment was observed and a large retinal break was noted in the inferotemporal mid periphery. Drainage of proteinaceous sub retinal fluid was performed using the vitreoctor tip, followed by cautery and 360 retinectomy.
