FS #189; FSV# 177. • I had this idea to go ahead and to the university found in Cullowhee, NC because I had watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and they were featured as one of the two university bands that played in New York City. I had to know the fight song before posting, and found it. When the university band finishes their song for the parade, they leave while playing their fight song. • Cullowhee is a small town, near rural census designated place near the North Carolina/Georgia border, and seeing that it is less than 10K in population, I have a strong feeling that it is a town gown community. To also add to the university, since it is located in the Appalachians, they have the catamounts as their mascot (The suited one is named Paws). You will have to note that the word applies to both mountain lion AND even the lynx family (lynxes and bobcats.) Unlike the Catamounts of the North-Vermont, which have their mascot look like a mountain lion, These Catamonts of the South are more towards lynx (note the short tail in the logo.) • Do find out that at the start of the third line of the song that there is a chord that is either a minor chord or a dominant 5th chord. Even the 6th and 7th lines do sound a bit like a minor key-seldom that you will find a fight song that uses minor keys. It sounds good! What do you think? • Comment clean and no reposting allowed.
