Quilt As You Go: Attaching the Rows with Sashing. There are many different methods of quilt as you go. In this tutorial, teach you how to attach your rows using sashing strips. This is the most common method of quilt as you go. • I like to use my machines decorative stitches when I use the quilt as you go method. I feel like it gives my quilts more character than when I do traditional quilting. • In this tutorial I cut my front strip 1 and my back strip at 2 . I ironed the 2 strip in half. That is a common practice for using strips using the quilt as you go method and I honestly can't tell you why. My guess is that it give more stability and strength to the quilt.
